Brigitte arrived in 2012 in the Vilavi’s project in downtown Montreal. Referred by Old Brewery Mission, she had just experienced 3 long years of homelessness in the city center. She aspired to find a dignified and safe home. After regaining some peace and a sense of well-being, Brigitte reconnected with her family, whom she was eager to see again, especially her son, who lived far from Montreal.

Brigitte’s health had been affected by her years of wandering and she was finding it increasingly difficult to find the energy to carry out her daily activities.

On October 17, she spoke with her neighbor to help, she told him that she felt particularly tired. Returning from a race, his neighbor hung his publisac at the door of his room, as he usually did. On Friday the publisac was still on his door, his neighbor informed us of his concern for the health of Brigitte. Her death was registered the same day.
