The Terrebonne treatment center
1600 Côte de Terrebonne | Terrebonne | Québec, J6Y 1G8
The Terrebonne treatment center is located 45 minutes from downtown Montreal, on the banks of the Mille Îles River. The property is surrounded by wooded areas and provides an ideal setting for treating people struggling with addiction. Its location and size allow for activities to be offered both within the center and in partnership with local resources.
The treatment center has 42 single rooms and several community rooms available to residents according to scheduled activities. These include a computer room, a craft workshop, a community kitchen, an art studio, a library, a multipurpose room with a music area, and other amenities. Throughout the year, physical activity is encouraged, which can be an important component of the therapeutic journey. There is a weight room and a relaxation area allowing to practice yoga year-round, in addition to an outdoor beach volleyball court, a mini soccer field, and a swimming pool for warmer days.
History
In 2006, the organization realized its intention to relocate its treatment center by acquiring the property at 1600 Côte de Terrebonne. Since 1989, its center in Nominingue, in the Laurentians, had welcomed hundreds of people for rehabilitation in a traditional therapeutic community (TC) setting. However, as the sector's expectations had changed, the organization adopted the modernized TC model, which included, among other things, specific objectives and means, supported by a professional team. These new parameters called for a treatment offering that had to be close to the city, both for issues related to the reintegration of individuals and for the challenges of recruiting qualified workers.
