An other challenging year!
2024 has been chaotic. We are alive, but we have been shaken so much that it is difficult to look into the distance, as if a persistent seasickness had set in... While our organization has certainly performed and contributed to social development as its mission demands, the environment continues to generate more pitfalls than favorable conditions.
This report, however, focuses on the results that should be celebrated. These results represent the sum of the constant efforts of a team mobilized to help the most vulnerable people.
We can be proud of the work we've accomplished. In every one of Vilavi's programs and projects, the impact on people and communities is clear to see. Both in terms of the number of people reached, which has grown steadily over the years, and in terms of quality, an extremely complex and volatile organizational dimension.
It was also during 2024 that our organization had to adapt to a profound and unexpected change. It was in March that our Deputy General Manager, Salina Kassam-Ferrari, was diagnosed with cancer, a diagnosis that fell like a sword on our teams. After undergoing a series of tests that only confirmed the impasse of the disease, Salina withdrew from the workplace during the summer, leaving an abysmal void where her radiant energy had shone unceasingly for over 20 years. For the Vilavi teams, Salina was without doubt the most inspiring person we ever met. Her boundless commitment enlightened us, and her experience in all the Vilavi businesses enabled her to guide the day-to-day management of operations with rigor, while passing on the fundamentals of the modalities of intervention.
So it's with courage and gratitude that our managers have taken on new responsibilities in the course of their duties.
A number of improvements have been implemented and others are still necessary, but it is clear from this difficult period that adherence to the vision of quality hammered out over all these years by Salina is understood, metabolized and visible in the daily actions of our workers, resulting in an occupancy rate for our facilities close to 90% and a historically high rate of adherence to our programs.
